Knee aspiration for OSCE
Indications: ?septic arthritis/haemoarthrosis
Contra-indications:
- Prosthetic joint
- Overlying cellulitis or severe dermatitis
- Bacteraemia
- Inaccessible joint
- Major coagulopathy
Complications:
- infection
- bleeding
- pain
- failure
Patient position: 10-20 deg flexion
Sterile procedure (apron, sterile gloves, drape)
