Vasopressin as a vasopressor

Strictly speaking this is purely from an ICU interest POV. But I think it's relevant...

Supported by Surviving Sepsis Guidelines as an option for refractory hypotension but not recommended as first line vasopressor (Dellinger et al, 2012)

Uses: oesophageal varices, neurogenic diabetes insipidus
Mechanism of action ↑ reabsorption of water, smooth muscle contraction → vasoconstriction
