transcutaneous pacing
demand vs non-demand - v useful !
Reverse causes - not a sick person who is bradycardic, but a patient who is sick because of the rhythm
- Chooses sedation/appropriate analgesia
- Attaches pads
- Attaches 3 lead ECG
- warns patient if conscious
- Chooses demand pacing
- Chooses pace
- Chooses appropriate starting current
- Checks to see every pacing spike is followed by a QRS complex
- increases energy incrementally until electrical + mechanical capture achieved (i.e. ensure radial/femoral pulse matches complexes on monitor)
- Hands over appropriately
