Is it non-accidental injury?????? → how mobile is the child usually

Non-displaced spiral fracture of the distal 2/3 of tibia + intact fibula
Mechanism
Patient demographic Age: 9m - 3y
Clinical presentation Trivial trauma, +/- twisting motion
Non-weight bearing
Anatomy
Diagnostic investigations X-ray tibia/fibula → non-displaced spiral fracture of tibia
- oblique view especially uesful
- serial x-rays?
Management Long leg back slab
HOWEVER Schuh et al. found that children not immobilised walked much earlier (4 days) than those immobilised in a controlled ankle movement (CAM) boot or splint (27 days!!!)
