What makes liver patients so bleedy?
- biliary obstruction → impaired absorption of Vit K
- ↓ levels of fibrinogen (as it is synthesised in the liver)
- ↓ thrombopoietin production
- ↓ prothrombin formation
- hypersplenism from portal hypertension → splenic sequestration
