Anaphylactoid reaction

  • Immediate systemic reaction which are NOT IgE-mediated
  • Rash, hypotension, angioedema, vomiting
  • Common triggers: NAC
    • SNAP regimen has lower risk of such reactions
  • Management:
    • Stop infusion and give chlorphenamine (backed up by Glasgow + Clyde guidelines)
    • Restart infusion at half rate
  • If in doubt, treat as anaphylaxis
