Course
- branches from tibial nerve between heads of gastrocnemius
- descends superficial to the belly of the gastrocnemius muscle
- penetrates through the deep fascia approximately in the middle of the leg
- passes around the lateral malleolus, and into the foot
- formed of medial and lateral sural nerves
