Foot - dorsum and sole
Foot innervation: Cutaneous nerves supplying the dorsum (dermatomes and names)
- As a continuation of the anterior tibial artery
- Its surface marking
- Knowledge of its branches not required
it is expected that candidates will know that the long flexor tendons lie within the second layer and that the tendons of tibialis posterior and peroneus longus are part of the fourth.
Appreciation that the neurovascular plane lies between the first and second layers
Actions & innervation of:
- Peroneus longus → see Lateral leg
- Tibialis posterior → see Muscles of posterior leg
Knowledge of the sites of insertions of these to the bones of the feet
