Laryngeal nerves
external laryngeal nerve
- branch of superior laryngeal nerve - divides at hyoid
- course: descends along lateral wall of pharynx, pierces inferior constrictor
- supply: cricothyroid
- Branch of Vagus nerve
- left - originates in thorax
- right - originates in root of neck
- supply:
- sensory to the laryngeal cavity below the level of the vocal folds
- motor to all intrinsic muscles of the larynx except for the cricothyroid (external laryngeal nerve)
