vagus nerve (directly or via hepatic plexus)
- Postganglionic sympathetic nerve fibres from the coeliac and superior mesenteric ganglia are inhibitory to gallbladder smooth muscle
sympathetic
greater and lesser thoracic splanchnic nerves (T7–T9)
conveys pain
phrenic nerve extends to gallbladder → referred pain
