- supraduodenal portion: lies in the free margin of lesser omentum; anterior to portal vein
- retroduodenal portion: anterior to portal vein
- infraduodenal portion: lies in a groove on posterior surface of pancreas, anterior to IVC/R renal vein
7 - pancreatic duct
8 - ampulla of Vater (regulated by sphincter of Oddi) = union of common bile duct + hepatic duct - emerges at descending part of duodenum
